  • Alibaba’s Jack Ma: The secret to his success

First of all, Jack is a nickname given to him by a foreign friend when he was young. In fact, he started as a tour guide before having a notable career. It was his entrepreneurial spirit at that time that led him to become the founder of Alibaba, the world’s largest online market (even surpassing eBay.com).

When he traded tour guides for English lessons, he made sure that he made connections. He was still a young man at the time, but it is evident from his method that he has what it takes to succeed.

Despite his determination, he failed his college admission test twice. This same determination made him try the third time, and he passed at Hangzhou Teacher Institute. He applied to many job postings after graduating. Unfortunately, he was rejected 12 times. Still, he landed a job as an English teacher that paid $12 a month.

Jack was considered a natural in this field, and he loved teaching even if it wasn’t a well-paying job.

Jack started his empire when he traveled. His first search was for the word “beer.” When he didn’t see any search results from China, he decided that a Chinese internet company was definitely necessary. He gathered his friends and began marketing himself as soon as he knew about his idea. When he told them about it, they encouraged him to start it. As he made connections with many people, he was able to become friends with Jerry Yan, Yahoo’s co-founder. As a result, Jack Ma became acquainted with the world of the World Wide Web, which played an integral role in Alibaba’s success. Ma was confident of his idea, but was humble enough to admit that he did not know everything to make it successful. He knew that someone could do a better job in the field of web development. According to his “outsourcing why,” he has a net worth of $25 billion, making him the wealthiest man in China.

  • How outsourcing helped Noah Kagan’s business

As the 30th employee of Facebook and Mint.com, Noah Kagan is not known for anything positive. Facebook fired him because he was arrogant, irresponsible, and was leaking information about the company’s plans. His performance also slipped, and he could not keep up with the rapid growth of the company.

In the event that his employment had lasted long enough, he could have earned millions of dollars. Unfortunately, it did not, so he did not benefit from it.

He learned from that incident, which explains his current success. He also remembered what Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, showed as his work ethic: to create something and not just think about profit.

In spite of this, he made a comeback. Using the lessons he learned, he founded AppSumo/SumoMe, a daily deal website that continues to gain popularity and is being used by entrepreneurs.

Noah Kagan’s journey to success all began with just $50. Despite having no additional revenue from his previous job, he decided to take a chance and outsource the web development needs of the company. His gamble paid off as the website looked very professional and promising. He went on to outsource some more by selling Imgur Pro subscriptions, eventually taking him from $50 to a whopping $2 million! It is clear that outsourcing can really open up new paths and perspectives.

  • With 30 businesses, Mark McRae is a multi-millionaire entrepreneur

In addition to being a husband and father, Mark McRae owns 30 companies around the world. He is one of the reasons outsourcing is becoming more popular.

Outsourcing is important to this man for the following reasons:

  • A cost-cutting strategy
  • Professionals with better access to skills
  • Reducing overhead costs
  • Staff flexibility
  • Efficiencies increase
  • Streamlining turnaround times
  • Profit generation

According to Mark McRae, if a computer is required for a job, it can be outsourced. In addition, his answer to why outsourcing is done is that it provides a wide variety of global talents. As his company outsources its services, he continues to give outsourcing a good image.

  • Crowdsourcing educator Vivek Wadhwa

In spite of the fact that outsourcing was a fearsome scenario during the 1990s for the US, Vivek Wadwha saw outsourcing as the future of business. It was true that some businesses relocated offshore, but why do US companies continue to outsource jobs despite this? There are many reasons for this, but it definitely contributed to the globalization of the economy.

In his research and literary works, Wadwha used both outsourcing and crowdsourcing to the fullest. When Vivek completed his research on Silicon Valley’s competitive strength, he found that women were not employed in tech companies. The bias was strong for him. Vivek initiated a project at Stanford Law School. He wanted to conduct some surveys on women to conclude. Vivek outsourced some project tasks to a woman in Washington DC. The data collection process was conducted over the phone or via the internet. Since the research took place anywhere, his team outsourced some tasks to students.

As a result, he was inspired to write a book about the findings, but he needed more insights to do so. However, he was faced with a challenge: writing a book is a full-time job that takes years.

Using his private mailing list, he outsourced crowdsourcing to them. The job was to reach out to their social connections. Within two weeks, 500 women signed up. In a website created by Vivek and his team, women shared their thoughts and insights. They even learned from one another. His team was able to gather enough responses within 6 weeks to materialize the book.

As a result of outsourcing and crowdsourcing, his team was able to finish the book. He valued the help of others on his project. He saw this as a reason to outsource the project. It was beneficial not only to Vivek and his team, but also to the participants.

  • Brenda Orth’s success with IT outsourcing

There are many companies that outsource their work, but outsourcing is not only limited to private companies. In Pennsylvania, outsourcing has provided quality service to its citizens. A more specific question arises: “Why IT outsourcing?”

Back in 1997, Brenda Orth and her team founded Pennsylvania’s Data PowerHouse (DPH). In order to better serve Pennsylvania and its citizens in terms of providing quality service, the government conducted a study. According to them, information technology (IT) is a crucial aspect of this business. This department, however, must operate 24/7 to fulfill its critical operations as well as other duties.

Now, Pennsylvania is known as one of the first states to be successful in outsourcing and an excellent example of why IT services should be outsourced.

Outsourcing has the following notable results:

  • Operational redundancies should be eliminated
  • The redeployment of resources to certain initiatives outside the IT department
  • Cutting costs

In a nutshell, outsourcing is a useful tool for government activities as well as private businesses.

  • Through the eyes of an OFW, Myrna Padilla of Mynd Consulting

Before becoming successful with Mynd Consulting, Myrna Padilla had experienced some unfortunate events in her life. At an early age, Myrna learned how to help satisfy her family’s needs. The only weapon she had against poverty was hope. She dreamed of a better life. Her daughters would not be able to make a living in the country if she worked here. She decided to work as an overseas contract worker, or OFW, because she felt that no amount of physical pain could compare to the pain of being separated from them. However, she dreamed for them, so she sacrificed for them.

In Hong Kong, she was employed as a domestic helper by a loving family because of her persistence and determination. She was treated kindly and loved as part of the family. She took care of the couple’s eight-year-old son, who introduced her to computers. Since then, her life has changed. She even founded an online community named Mindanao Hong Kong Worker’s Federation, where members shared their experiences as OFWs and held meetings every Sunday, their only day off. As a fellow OFW, Myrna dreamed of a job where family members didn’t have to leave their homes just to earn a living. Even though she didn’t know what BPO was back then, she decided to harness the power of the internet to find a job that wouldn’t require family members to leave. Her dream had become a reality by the time she returned to the Philippines. Mynd Consulting was founded with two employees and an old computer as a business outsourcing company. With her passion and determination, Mynd Consulting now caters to clients in the United States and Europe. There are many reasons why companies outsource, but for Myrna, it allows Filipinos to earn a living without having to leave their families. Also, she funds OFW Watch, a mobile application that empowers women against slavery and trafficking as an active advocate against human trafficking.

The following are some of the entrepreneurs who have proved that outsourcing works. The following are the companies that have grown and thrived thanks to outsourcing.

OUTSOURCING HELPED THE COMPANIES SURVIVE ALL ODDS

These companies have their own stories of how outsourcing has benefitted them:

  • Outsourcing increased innovation at Procter & Gamble
  • From outsourced developers to business partners: Skype
  • Outsourcing saves Unilever operational and labor costs

  • Outsourcing increased innovation at Procter & Gamble

Many people around the world trust Procter & Gamble’s products. However, with rapid success comes fast growing demands, and P&G knew they needed to make more efforts to keep up.Throughout its history, P&G has always focused on innovation and research studies. However, running a huge business also involves many facets. Companies outsource management services for a variety of reasons. P&G outsourced IT apps development, IT support, and data center operations to HP; payroll, expatriate, and travel services to IBM; and floor and building management to JLL.

The decision to outsource its facilities management to JLL was a ground-breaking event for both companies. P&G did not just want JLL to manage its establishment, but also to take charge of it.

As an alternative to outsourcing daily work, P&G developed a model that aimed for results and transformation instead of outsourcing daily work. Due to their involvement in the outsourcing process, almost 600 P&G employees were then labeled as JLL employees.

Through outsourcing, the two companies were able to create and share value by using performance-based goals, which are also innovative.

Although P&G outsourced, it still gave credit to JLL. This is called a vested agreement. Although P&G outsourced, it still gave credit to JLL. This is called a vested agreement. Larry Bridge, leader-in-charge of contract governance, said everything worked out because everyone was working together instead of negotiating from opposite ends.

As a result, innovation productivity increased by 60 percent and 400 new products generated a revenue of more than $10 billion in just five years after being a new supplier to P&G.

For P&G, success came from outsourcing, good intentions, and the right management of relationships. Outsourcing can generate profit, but it can also build connections and strengthen relationships.

  • From outsourced developers to business partners: Skype

With the continuous growth of the application, it reflects a growth in the company as well. Skype is one of the most popular online communication platforms for personal and professional use.

Even when Skype was just starting out, it recognized the need for “expert touch” on certain aspects of its business.

Before its popularity and full functionality, it encountered some technical issues that made it not suitable for any customer reviews. Three developers from Estonia, Priit Kasesalu, Ahti Heinla, and Jann Tallinn, were hired to develop the app. At first, they were just outsourced, but eventually became business partners. This led Microsoft to acquire Skype for $8.5 billion.

In order to land at a better place, outsourcing is a good way to show humility and ask for help.

  • Unilever: Outsourcing saves operational and labor costs

With so many things going on within the company and its branches, Unilever has a lot on its plate. While Unilever is a trusted company, that did not guarantee a smooth operation every time.

Different branches across the globe use different ERP systems. Unilever decided that it was best to have one ERP system for the whole Unilever group in Europe. However, Unilever did not know much about IT. As a result, the company outsourced its ERP system development to a third party. A massive €700 million in annual savings resulted.

As a result of outsourcing the services the company did not have much expertise in, it could concentrate on what it does best. As a result, they were not only able to relieve some of their employees’ burdens, but they also were able to save a lot of money, which they could use for other business operations.

OUTSOURCING’S ROLE IN THE LIVES OF EMPLOYEES

Outsourcing is popular among US companies. Why do firms outsource project work? What are the benefits of outsourcing? While there are so many answers to these questions (probably answered from the previous points), outsourcing provides great help for these two individuals.

Their stories about how outsourcing helped them and their families are as follows:

  • Lori Llanes Flores is a mother of two beautiful children
  • C.A. Rodriguez, a single mom with a five-year-old son

  • Lori Llanes Flores, a mother of two beautiful children

After discovering that her husband was involved in an extramarital affair, Lori separated from him and brought her two daughters with her.

In order to support her two daughters, she became an overseas Filipino worker (OFW). However, a deplorable incident happened – her daughter was stabbed and pronounced dead. Because Lori was overseas and her boss wouldn’t let her come home to even bury her daughter, it was extremely difficult for her.

Having failed in building her business overseas, she decided to go home and try her luck in BPO.

Every time her budget fell short, she even borrowed money from her neighbor for her fares to work. She was a diligent employee who never wanted to be tardy or absent.

For her complete attendance, she was awarded the “Iron Lady,” which came with a cash prize.

After getting her daughter through college, she pursued her passion and became a Zumba instructor.

  • C.A. Rodriguez, a single mother of a five-year-old boy

Before she got pregnant, C.A. Rodriguez loved to party. After her former husband left her for another woman, she was forced to raise her son alone.

Although it wasn’t her first choice, she decided to take the BPO because she thought it was the best job for her and her son.

Xander was very cooperative at first and soon learned to sleep without his mom during nighttime. They became accustomed to this set up as time went on.

Besides the benefits and compensation, one of the benefits of outsourcing for C.A. is the flexibility.

The bottom line is that outsourcing is a tool that helps employees, business owners, and entrepreneurs succeed. In order to give better services to your clients, it might be a good idea to outsource certain tasks if you are a small business owner or just starting out.

As you now know some of the most famous outsourcing stories, it is time to know where the top outsourcing destinations are.
